Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
This scripture at first may seem very simple, but the underlying statement "commit to the Lord whatever you do" is difficult for us as human beings. It is a life long practice to live life with God in our hearts and minds, and we are certain to falter at times. It takes patience, love, humility, and forgiveness. And it takes getting back to what is important and staying in the right frame of mind after a fall. For me, once I made this life realization, my perception started to change and I started to feel peace doing the mundane things that most people dislike. For example, going to a job that I really didn't want to be at. This allowed me to see the blessings that were constantly coming to me in my life and appreciate them. I remember being at this church in my early twenties. They were talking about taking on a new dream. They were preaching that you should let go of society's dreams and take hold of God's dream. But for them, that meant to let go of money, high paying jobs, etc and join the church community. Doing outreach is a wonderful thing, but I felt a bit uncomfortable because my God given dream was to perform and play music. This has always been associated with fame which has been associated with evil and sin. It took a long time of prayer to find a way to do what I felt led to do and feel comfortable that it was also what God approved of. If I end up getting money from doing what I love, I'm sure God will put on my heart how to spend it wisely and live off it humbly. I don't need to shy away from success and you don't either. Let the blessings flow. Be happy in your life at all times. I know it's hard. You and me will both have bad days, but that is what the next morning is for, a new beginning.

"Trying" is about following your dreams no matter what. The verse says "You think I should get a day job, maybe I should take a pill. And what’s that crazy doing, she’s just sitting wasting skill. But I am in my head now, and I can not lose my hope, As long as days keep coming, I will fight to move up slope!" Never stop dreaming because where there is a dream, there is a future!
Personal Story: I don't think I'll ever stop trying to be a better person or having creative projects that I'm working on. I don't believe you can get too old to live life to the fullest. I started dancing again in my 40s. I thought people would laugh at me at first, but I don't care anymore. My dad once told me "life is too short." You have to live your life to the fullest and be happy. Never stop dancing or dreaming. Keep trying! What is your dream? Have you had any success? What do you do today to keep trying to work on your ambitions? We often work hard, but don't undergo the spiritual transformation to accept success. We try to be humble or have low confidence about what we really want to do. This song is about letting the blessings flow. It is a motivational song to help people follow their dreams. Because where there is a dream, there is a future!
Personal Story: I've been to churches who have told me I should find a "new Christian dream" which often involves doing outreach for the church or accepting a "humble job." But I believe I was put on this earth with the talents I have to reach others through my music. The more I do God's dream for me, the more money I may make. I used to be afraid of that, but now I understand that it only allows me to put more money back into helping others. So don't be afraid to live your dreams! What is success to you? Leave a comment. |
